Cheetah Chat for 9/23/24 - Back to School Night CHANGED, Library Volunteers Needed and More

Principal’s Message

Greetings Chávez Families,

We are off to a great start this year.  Kids are settling in. Staff have established routines.  Our building is buzzing with activity and energy and we are not even to the end of the month yet. 

Please note that we have moved the date of Back to School Night (curriculum night) to October 1,st in the evening.    Details to come later this week.  This will also host our Annual Title One Meeting

Last week was a great example of teamwork and support here at Chávez. 

• We have made improvements to dismissal procedures that have kids better supervised and on their way home quicker than before.  
  

• We conducted a safety drill that was efficient and emphasized that students look at and listen to their adults to keep it safe and get back to learning quickly.  
  

• We had our first assembly with a ton of positive energy and celebration, so that kids know that they are part of the Chávez community.
  

• We had a picnic on the playground on Friday night with almost 100 Chávez community members connecting and playing on a beautiful fall evening.
  

THIS WEEK, our Artist in Residence will begin the process of making over 350 amazing tie dyed t-shirts with students. They will learn about the chemistry and physics of color, how to create the design they want and apply dye that will bring their vision to life!  So exciting!
