If you drive your child to school in the morning, please note the following:
  • Our doors at the entrance open at 7:30
  • Speed is 5 MPH in the lot.  Please be alert and attentive to traffic
  • You may pause in the loading/unloading zone to let your child out.  We have multiple staff supervising that area each morning
  • If you are parked in the lot and walking your child in, please use the crosswalks
Pick Up
  • If you pick you child up, the best way the get them is to pause park at the curb, stay in your car and a staff member will ask who you are getting and direct them to you
  • If you walk to pick them up, please report to the area at the fire lane or the playground side and a staff member will check with you and call for your child

Halloween Costumes Allowed on Halloween
We know that many of our families celebrate Halloween and that kids look forward to showing off their costumes.  We allow students to wear a costume to school on Halloween.  Guidelines for costumes are below.  If you have a question, please reach out prior to sending your child in costume adn talk with your child that school expectations are the same, even thought it is a fun holiday.

Halloween Costume Guidelines

  • No masks or hoods
  • No gore, including blood.
  • No weapons. This includes toy swords, blasters, & lightsabers.
  • Hard-soled footwear is required.
  • May not be culturally or ethnically insensitive. (You can watch this video for more information.)
  • Costumes will be worn to school and must be comfortable enough to be worn all day.

Risks of Social Media Exposure for Kids
- Tik Tok, Youtube, Instagram and More
As an educator, I wanted to take a moment to share some important information regarding the potential harms of social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

Several studies recently have highlighted the concerning trends we've observed regarding the negative impact these platforms can have on our students' social interactions and well-being, particularly in the areas of  exposure to homophobic and racist language, negative body image messaging, screen addiction, attention issues and anxiety.

We have had several instances of late where mean-spiriting teasing, racist or homophobic language has been linked to youtube influencers, tik tok or instagram posts viewed by our students.  This directly challenges our charge to provide a safe and welcoming learning community for all of our students.

To help support you in monitoring and guiding your child's online activities, included  are a few bullet points for your consideration:

  • Consider not allowing your child to have a social media account to begin with
  • If they do have social media, please follow them and interact with their activity
  • Monitor your child's web browser history and messaging with peers
  • Have devices stored with you at night to prevent night time use that limits healthy sleep
  • Be aware of the types of content your child is engaging with and have discussions about the harmful language or biases they may encounter.
  • Explore parental control settings and tools that can help filter or limit access to certain types of content.
  • Foster an environment where your child feels comfortable coming to you with any concerns or questions they may have about their online experiences.
We want to partner with you to support you and your child in navigating this digital landscape.  Some additional links are below.
